The Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) is an independent, professional association dedicated to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of Texas Public Schools through the development of highly qualified school finance and operations professionals. Established in 1946, the organization currently has approximately 5,600 members and 29 regional affiliates representing more than 850 public school districts in Texas.
“We were drowning in paper and registrations were not being processed timely, which is so critical for customer satisfaction. We had one staff member for every 270 members and now we have one staff member for every 340 members. But we are serving them better.”
TASBO's membership was growing and costs were rising but they didn’t want to raise their fees because the economy had been so unpredictable for public schools. They couldn't hire more staff to keep up with the increased paperwork burden so they had to find a way to reduce their expenses and become more efficient.
TASBO began using iMIS for association management -- membership, event registrations, committee information, and certifications. With iMIS, the organization was able to combine information from multiple sources into one system they can turn to -- without duplication. They utilized the Baldridge Performance Excellence® process for continuous performance improvement and developed system dashboards to measure key criteria, particularly customer satisfaction and their work force.
Rather than printing and mailing invoices and confirmations, the organization now saves a significant amount of time and money by emailing. Members are able to update their own personal information, which saves time for both the member and organization. Staff is able to support members more efficiently and effectively using one centralized system. While the organization has been successful, they are always striving to reach that next level and iMIS is helping them achieve their goals.
