Client Success with iMIS

Second Baptist Church of Houston Success with iMIS Faith-based Software

An iMIS client since 2007, Second Baptist Church of Houston (also known as "Second") has six campuses to minister to the needs of its congregation. In all, it has more than 78,000 members in the Houston area supported by a staff of 1,200. iMIS helps support Second’s mission by tracking church membership, contributions, pastoral care, attendance, and its important outreach to non-members.

We have had an exceptional relationship with ASI — they care about their clients. Every few years, we reevaluate our choice of solutions and we continue to choose iMIS. It is a great product developed and maintained by great people.

Prior to iMIS, Second Baptist Church had designed its own proprietary church management system that was difficult to use (requiring manual attendance processing), expensive to maintain, and unable to address all their needs. The multi-location church needed a solution that was feature-rich, flexible, scalable (a platform that could scale as the church grew), and extendible so Second could add additional functionality that was specific to the organization.

Second focused on streamlining processes for tracking church membership, contributions, attendance, activities, event registration, assimilation and outreach. Built on the iMIS platform, Second developed a native app called "SBC Playbook" to more efficiently assign follow-up activities to volunteers and enable leaders to enter attendance directly into the app (which subsequently wrote activities directly into iMIS). With this, Second was able to reach out to prospective members on the same day and better respond to recurring absences.

Exceptional member care has always been Second’s goal, and, with iMIS, it was able to centralize its data and create sophisticated, automated reports. With the "Prayer & Care Dashboard," staff are now able to quickly and easily monitor hospitalized members, recurring absences, members with chronic or long-term illnesses, and recent deaths. With access to real-time information, staff and volunteers can now more accurately qualify prospects and, since implementing iMIS, Second’s membership has grown from 50,006 to 77,476 —a jump of more than 55% — in just a decade.
