Lab Rescue of the LRCP Success with iMIS Fundraising Software

Lab Rescue of the LRCP (Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac) is a volunteer-driven animal welfare organization that specializes in rescuing, fostering, treating, referring and re-homing Labrador Retrievers and Lab mixes throughout the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Each year they save they lives of about 1,000 Labs.

Basically, my first day using iMIS taught me more about our donors than I had learned in my five previous years with the organization. With the combination of iMIS 20 and Cause2Give, we no longer have to worry about keeping up with content edits and administrative chores — I'm now free to focus on building revenue that saves lives.

To manage their website, donor data, and online store, Lab Rescue was previously using several different systems that were inefficient and labor-intensive. They were particularly hindered by a content management system that allowed only one user at a time to edit their most-visited page that lists the dogs looking for homes — which didn't work for their three volunteers who shared the voluminous, daily task of updating the adoption status of the dogs. They needed a flexible, scalable system with a secure database for donor, dog and online store data. But, they also needed to build and maintain a robust website, as well as offer peer-to-peer fundraising for their annual dog walk event.

The iMIS 20 solution for small-staff organizations became Lab Rescue's website and their donor database. Additional volunteers were provided access to the web-based system to perform the content updates, which were made simple and easy with iMIS. A new responsive — and extremely user-friendly — website was launched with several online donation pages for one-time and recurring gifts, and a secure store to promote their merchandise.

The Dog Walk is Lab Rescue’s second-largest fundraising effort of the year and, along with iMIS, ASI's Cause2Give solution helped drive its success. Cause2Give's peer-to-peer fundraising capabilities helped the organization turn their donors into fundraisers with web-based and mobile friendly personal and team pages that track fundraising progress from start to finish. Thanks to this partnership, Lab Rescue exceeded their original forecast by more than 10%.

Lab Rescue now has six pages of dogs for adoption. Individual dog records are updated as their statuses change and the adoption pages are automatically populated with the latest information. Donor satisfaction is increased due, in part, to faster and more frequent thank yous and other regular communications. Volunteers no longer juggle multiple spreadsheets and can concentrate their attention on fundraising and placements. As a result of the iMIS system, Lab Rescue has launched "Lab Champions," a monthly giving program that offers a brand-new revenue and donor cultivation stream for the organization.
