Parkinson's Western Australia encourages and, where appropriate, develops and implements programs for the cure, treatment and care of people with Parkinson’s. With approximately 2,000 members, 75 volunteers, and 12 offices, they provide a Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist Service, support networks for people with Parkinson’s and their family caregivers, and educational resources/training.
Prior to Donor Management, Parkinson’s WA was utilising an Access database to manage its data. The system was time consuming to use and inefficient for the growing organisation. It was difficult for Parkinson’s WA to identify support group members, pinpoint members by postcode, manage their raffles, track stock, and segment the database for their various appeals.
They selected Donor Management at the recommendation of several other not-for-profits. The new system was easy to use and allowed them to better gather information on members (including those who purchased their merchandise), improve communications with support group leaders, members, and volunteers, track donations, and generate thank you letters. Parkinson’s WA uses Donman to target previous donors for appeals, manage its raffle mail-out, and produce financial reports.
Parkinson’s WA is increasing donor satisfaction by keeping members updated on the organisation’s goals for the future and how donations help them achieve those goals. These improved communications have resulted in greater retention and enhanced relations with their support groups and volunteers. The organisation can now quickly process payments, distinguish between member categories, extract information, and produce reports more efficiently.
