From its humble beginning as a wilderness summer camp in 1919, Camp Manito-wish YMCA has grown into one of the most respected youth and leadership programs in the world.


The combination of iMIS for registration, fundraising and alumni tracking -- mixed with the Great Plains financial series -- has allowed us to centralize all of our work processes into one integrated system. We now have the room to grow as our business expands and technology changes.

Challenge

Responsible for more than 3,000 participants in a year-round program, the staff spent a lot of time manually inputting information into the camp's disparate databases. The camp lacked the flexible management system it needed to not only keep up with its donors, campers and staff but also accommodate the growth of its business and facilities. They needed a scalable, integrated solution to help oversee everything from camper itineraries and dietary needs to fundraising and registrations.

Solution

The iMIS online solution enabled Camp Manito-wish YMCA to easily and efficiently track contributions solicited by each volunteer and the total dollars collected in the annual fundraising campaign. The camp's fundraising team used iMIS to help volunteer solicitors gather key donor intelligence, such as camping, donation, and meeting history to more effectively target potential donors and quickly generate acknowledgements. In addition to its fundraising and development team, everyone from the camp's dining hall staff and counselors to the accounting department and bus drivers utilized iMIS.

Results

With iMIS, Camp Manito-wish has developed an end-to-end management solution that meets all of its fundraising and camp session needs. Fundraising staff are able to reach out to a greater donor base and raise more money, which helps maintain the camp's facilities and provides vital camper scholarships. They also use iMIS to manage their counselor information -- including tracking staff tax forms, creating rehire packages and monitoring certification statuses. The registration and wait-list process is also now much easier and camper logistics/communications are more streamlined.
