Association of Washington School Principals Success with iMIS Membership Software

The Association of Washington School Principals is the state’s preeminent professional association for principals, assistant principals and principal interns. They serve approximately 3,500 members from elementary, middle and high schools -- as well as policymakers and administrators -- by providing professional development seminars, award-winning publications, networking events and a career center.

iMIS allowed us to get rid of the data silos that were impacting our ability to accurately manage and track our members, revenue, and programs. It's brought greater accountability to our organization and is an integral part of AWSP operations.

Challenge

AWSP was previously using an old Paradox database that was outdated and had created data silos within the organization. There was no accountability in the old system, no connectivity or integration, no controls or tracking, and reporting was unreliable. These issues drove them to begin a search for a new, integrated system.

Solution

Now a long-time iMIS client, AWSP has used iMIS to maintain the most accurate database of public school officials in the state of Washington, manage events, enhance communications, facilitate billing, and manage their website. The organization began using iMIS for reporting and was quickly able to produce accurate reports that the organization could rely on to make sound business decisions. AWSP has been able to automate business processes and has improved the tracking of complex membership data.

Results

In the first year after implementation, AWSP saw a sizable increase in dues revenue that it attributed to the greater accountability of the iMIS system. Prior to iMIS, the number of event registrations did not match the revenue collected. Now, while registrations have declined (because duplicates/errors have been eliminated), event revenue has actually grown. Integration between member data, events, and accounting is providing a far more accurate picture of the organization’s organizational performance.
