Self Service iPart

The Self Service iPart includes a simple compiler and access to iMIS data to improve online customer service by providing members with an easy way to receive personalized answers to common membership questions, such as, "What is my website password?, "When does my membership expire?" and "What events am I registered for?"

The Self Service iPart is designed specifically to help those members who cannot otherwise get answers to their questions online. They either can't recall their login credentials or their accounts have been disabled. In the past, the only form of recourse for these individuals has been to call the association for personalized assistance. But now, with the Self Service iPart, the association can provide personalized assistance with immediacy and convenience directly from their website.

To use the Self Service iPart, the member enters his/her email address, and if a single match is found in iMIS, the member receives a detailed snapshot of his membership record in his inbox. But the power of this iPart comes from the flexibility of this email message. The iPart includes a simple compiler that can interpret "If-Then" constructs and can retrieve data from iMIS. The latter is achieved using keyword replacement. The iPart includes a list of keywords, and whenever it encounters a keyword in the email message, it replaces the keyword with its corresponding data from iMIS. For example, whenever the compiler encounters the keyword, [iMIS_First_Name], the compiler replaces this keyword with the member’s proper name. Some keywords are more sophisticated than simple replacements. For example, the keyword [iMIS_Upcoming_Events] would be replaced with a table-style listing of any future events for which the member is registered, including event date, title, city, and state.
